KSAR is looking for positive team oriented people to join our team. Onboarding starts with completing an application and background check ( Under the “member” tab). Once we receive an application or email requesting more information, we will reach out re: next steps. We look forward to meeting you!
Our members are from all areas and backgrounds of society and are brought together by one purpose: to serve our communities and our state by providing the requesting agencies with a highly-trained, self-sustained search and rescue team. Although our searchers are all volunteers, they are held to the highest standards and train year round to remain ready for the next mission when it arises.
KSAR is always looking for dedicated individuals to join as general searchers, dog handlers, drone pilots, or support personnel to work at base. We also have a high angle ropes team and medical team. No previous search and rescue experience is required as we are always seeking all types of skill sets for various search missions and training events. KSAR will help you get training and members are not required to have a dog. Becoming a KSAR member is a commitment and not one made lightly. However, volunteering your time to help save lives can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
A few things to expect:
Candidates must go through an evaluation & background check
Accepted candidates go through a probation phase
Members are all volunteers and provide their own equipment according to KSAR’s requirements
Members must meet certain physical requirements to be deployed in the field, however, we welcome all levels of capabilities for other vital support duties
Members must attend regular meetings and trainings
